Real-life wildpreneur Tamara Jacobi understands the challenge and reward of turning your passion into a business. Over ten years ago, she and her family started the Tailwind Jungle Lodge, a treehouse style eco-lodge in the jungle on the Mexican Pacific coastline. In this wild guide, Jacobi shares the lessons she has learned, alongside stories and wisdom from other wildpreneurs, revealing the joys and realities of making their business dreams come true.
Part how to guide, part memoir and part collection of real-life inspirational stories. Wildpreneurs is a fascinating read into how creative minded entrepreneurs can build their business.
I found this book really interesting to read. Tamara’s descriptions of how she came up with the idea for her lodge, along with the many learning curves and experiences on the journey are insightful and very helpful.
Most business guides skip the messy parts of creating a business, but as a budding entrepreneur, it is so important to hear about when things don’t quite go right.
While talking us through her experiences from budding idea to a fully functional Mexican jungle lodge, Tamara weaves through short inspirational messages and stories from other ‘wildpreneurs’.
Filled with sound business advice, examples of lessons learnt and the very real danger of burnt out, Tamara’s story is fascinating.
Everyone is different, and the standard way we are often taught is not for everyone and indeed can be overwhelming.
This book is perfect for those either starting a business from scratch or thinking of reinventing their dream. Tamara reminds us that there is no such thing as a finished business, and that we should play to our strengths and hire out for our weaknesses (where financially possible of course)
I also found the practical exercises, worksheets and self-reflection questions scattered throughout to be really useful and helped me with thinking through my business plan.
This is a definite must-read for any creative wanting to or in the process of, building their dream business.
