I am going to start by saying that I love start-ups and I love the innovation they can bring.
And what I love about Tesalate is that they are an Australian small business, with a brilliant solution to a common problem. I’m from Melbourne, Australia and have the good fortune to live very close to a beach and the city centre. Most nights in summer I am walking along the water after work to relax and wind down. The hardest part? Wiping off all the sand so I can put my sneakers back on!
Sometimes my friends and I will take road trips down the coast as well, which also has the side effect of bringing part of the beach back with us! (we almost need a mini vacuum just for the car)
Now I do own a Tesalate towel, I brought it after reading many, many reviews to make sure it was a) worth the price, and b) did what it claimed to do, so this review is my complete and honest opinion.
Yes. Not a single grain of sand stuck to this towel. And I’ve tried it on loose dry sand and damp clumpy sand (which is normally the stuff that really sticks).
I was even able to use it afterwards after using the open air shower to dry off, and still not get sand back on me.
Tesalate developed their own fabric which they call AbsorbLite™.
It kind of feels like homemade paper. If you have ever made your own paper at school (YouTube have some great videos if you haven’t), it looks and feels very similar to that. However, it is not scratchy and is still soft to touch.
While not as fast as a chamois travel towel, it still dries within a few hours (depending on how wet you get it).
Of course! Because it is so compact and light, I regularly bring it to work with me, and use it in the nearby park at lunchtime when the sun is out as a picnic blanket. No grass comes back either 🙂 It also works at pools and spas.
As a bonus, during these restrictions and lockdowns, I sometimes go to a park near home at lunch and enjoy the sun for a little bit.
The price! But I will say that you get what you pay for. This towel is incredibly well made and will last me a very long time, provided I look after it properly. It is also compact, light and keeps the sand away from my luggage (which is what I wanted).
The feel of the fabric took some getting used to, but once I put it through the wash a few times it was fine.
While my initial reaction was to flinch at the price, I did end up buying it and I have absolutely no regrets.
Why? Because:
From a travel perspective, you can’t get much better than this. It is compact (fits even in small backpacks with plenty of room left), dries quickly and looks amazing.
If you can afford it, then I definitely recommend investing in a Tesalate towel.

February 15, 2020I love start ups as well. Many of the products are so innovative and definitely fix every day problems. This towel is so innovative! I hate sand in my towels too and I always can find it when I come home no matter how many times I have cleaned it. This is great! I will definitely have to check this out, thank you for sharing this amazing product 🙂
